I’m Misty,

Currently living in Lakewood, Colorado, I am a plant enthusiast and travel lover who dreams of living on the island. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, I long to feel the ocean air on my face again. Until that day, a small tattoo of an island lives on my foot, keeping that dream close. I’ve been with my husband for over half my life, and we’ve raised three boys together. I find joy in the simple things like gardening, cozy family movie nights, cuddling with my corgi, and exploring the local culinary sceneβ€”always on the hunt for the best gluten-free foods in Denver.

Growing up in a busy household of eight children (lucky number seven here), I was immersed in the miracle of birth from a young age. Witnessing my first birth at just ten years old sparked a lifelong passion for pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and nurturing infants. I’ve always seen women embody a beautiful strength as they carry and nourish new life. We’re pretty amazing!

Before becoming a doula, I spent several years as a nanny and later became a licensed in-home childcare provider while raising my children, who are now young men. I’ve also been a childbirth educator at one of our local hospitals, the same one where I had all three of my babies, since 2020. I’m a doula trainer and mentor with Intuitive Birth, helping guide our next generation of doulas.

Every mother deserves to reclaim control of her birthing journey. Through education, she gains insight into her options, cultivates confidence in her abilities, and embraces empowerment. As a doula, childbirth educator, and lactation educator, I’m dedicated to providing the guidance, comfort, and unwavering support my clients need on their journey into motherhood.

  • It's easy to think that if you've done your homework, then you'll be able to easily access that knowledge and act accordingly, in real time, at game time. But I've been in enough situations where the moment can get the best of us, and prevent us from thinking clearly (if at all). So despite going to bi-weekly classes at the Birth Center for months to help us prepare for the big day, we knew that having a a warm, informed, experienced and knowledgable presence like Misty by our side, every step of the way, was THE way to ensure that our needs were always advocated for, and that we stayed measured and calm during an otherwise hectic experience, especially at go-time. As a result, Misty being with us during the entirety of the birth experience - from water breaking, to our son being born, and even being by my wife's side when she got transferred to the local hospital - was such a stabilizing and reassuring force. She knew what to do, when to do it, and provided comfort and guidance at every step when it mattered most. We can't thank Misty enough for always being there for us -before, during and after the birth of our treasured son, Kalin. We know that we'll always have a trusted confidant and friend in her. Thank you Misty! (Kalin thanks you too!)

  • I had a wonderful experience with Misty for my birth. She was thoughtful, experienced, personable, dedicated, and clearly loves what she does. I was more comfortable during labor because of her assistance and felt supported in my decision making process.

  • My husband and I worked with Misty for the birth of our first child and we had an extremely positive experience! Misty is very calm, knowledgeable, and encouraging. My hope was to have a natural birth. This changed a bit when I needed to be induced. Fortunately, Misty helped me navigate this new scenario and guided my husband and I through various decisions regarding some interventions during my delivery. In the end, I was off Pitocin and had my baby naturally. I am so grateful for Misty's care, support, and advice before, during, and after my delivery. I would highly recommend Misty!

  • Where do I even begin to express our gratitude for Misty? From the very start, she wasn't just our doula; she became a close friend and an essential part of our journey through pregnancy and birth. Misty's support and guidance were invaluable throughout our pregnancy. Her wealth of knowledge and genuine care eased our worries and empowered us to embrace each step with confidence. But it was during labor that Misty truly shined. Labor wasn't just manageable with Misty by our sideβ€”it was genuinely enjoyable. Together, we tackled every item on my checklist, navigating each moment with laughter, encouragement, and a sense of camaraderie. My husband and I never felt alone or uncertain; Misty's presence brought a sense of peace and reassurance that made the experience truly memorable. Misty's dedication to her work is unmatched. Her passion for supporting families is evident in everything she does, from her expert guidance to her unwavering support. She went above and beyond to ensure that our birth experience was everything we hoped for and more. Thank you, Misty, for not only being an incredible doula but also a cherished friend. You made labor an experience we will always treasure, and we are forever grateful for your kindness, expertise, and unwavering support. If you're looking for a doula who will make labor not just manageable, but genuinely enjoyable, thats Misty. She's simply the best.

  • My wife and I hired Misty as our doula to help welcome our daughter into the world. I can’t adequately find the words to describe how important it was to have Misty as our guide and advocate before, during, and after the birth. She truly went above and beyond our expectations by putting in the time to develop a relationship with both of us. As a result we felt truly honored to have her share in such an intimate and life changing experience. I recommend Misty and Intuitive Birth to anyone who is expecting. To future dads - having a doula was maybe as valuable to me as it was to my wife. It is worth the investment!

  • We had an absolutely amazing experience with Misty! We clicked from the moment we met. She is so caring and supportive. She supported us through the biggest tragedy in our life - the birth of our beautiful son who was stillborn. Misty went above and beyond the role of a doula and was truly there for us as a friend. Fast forward and she was our doula for our daughter’s birth. I ended up with a planned c section due to breech positioning and Misty’s presence brought relaxation and peace the day of. Beyond all of this she is super knowledgeable and was always available to help answer my questions. I can’t recommend Misty & her team enough. You will be in amazing hands!!

  • Misty is amazing and worth her weight in gold!! I truly don’t know what we would have done without her. I had a very long labor and there wasn’t a moment she wasn’t supporting either me or my husband and helping me through the tough moments. She was there for us throughout the entire pregnancy answering any questions we had and made us feel so comfortable going into labor. We are forever thankful for her and all that she has done and continues to do for our family :)

Women supported by doulas also experience lower rates of postpartum depression, report higher satisfaction with their birth experiences, find the transition into motherhood smoother, and are more successful at breastfeeding.

Doulas offer invaluable support to partners by guiding them on how to assist the mother best and providing them with opportunities to rest and recharge.
